Silence
Recommendation – How to read the words in the New Dictionary:
A word is a vessel through which essence, energy passes. The word is never the thing itself.
What is the real “thing”? It is good to answer this question in silence.
Therefore the invitation to this dictionary is “tricky”; it seems like it tries to replace one “definition” with another “definition” but it does not. This dictionary is an opportunity to look at a word from a different perspective than we are used to. And ask what is the essence of this word, coming from the mystery? From nature? From the inconceivable knowing that everything is one, everything is motion and I am a part of it?
From here you will find that the new “definition” sometimes sounds poetic or even irritating to the mind, because it cannot understand it. It’s OK. Let the words be a tool and listen to the energy that passes through them. That’s exactly what we came here to do.
Coming out of the knowing that everything is connected and everything is in motion:
Silence is a state of surrendering to truth. It is seeing and desiring an encounter with the power that resides beyond action. This encounter is not the result of effort or expectation, pushing or pulling, but rather the desire to be at the quiet center of being, or myself, and from there, to see truth, to meet it, and act from within it.
The reality created: Falling in love with creation. Submitting to the wonder that sustains us all.
Living within this understanding means living more slowly. It means finding our center and remaining there, quietly observing what is truly happening and what our agitated mind is telling us is happening, and then learning to recognize the difference.
“Then Moses said to Aaron: “This is what God spoke, ‘Through those that are night unto me, I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified, and Aaron was silent.”
Leviticus, chapter 13
We have learned that silence is quiet. It is the opposite of noise. It is the absence of communication. It is the absence of inner movement. Silence is paralysis, lifelessness. It is looking for a solution, seeking salvation.
Silence is an intermediate state. It is a state that shows that something is not quite right.
When faced with silence, people often think of their fears. Their minds show them images which prove to them that they are lacking and unloved. When faced with silence, people assume that their needs cannot be fulfilled.
The reality created: People fear silence. People do not agree to the quiet that is necessary for meeting true silence. This fear creates avoidance, opposition and frustration. It ensures that we do not extend ourselves past our comfort zone where the real world is waiting to be revealed.
